 | | Background Information on the Berlin Military Music Festival
“A festival that brings people together”
How everything got started…
The last sounds of the legendary British Tattoo had barely faded away in October of 1992 in Berlin’s Deutschlandhalle, when a faithful audience was calling for a successor event.
In 1995, the “Deutscher BundeswehrVerband” (German Armed Forces Association) agreed to come forward as the organizer and in 1998 founded the “Bundeswehr-Selbsthilfewerk und Agentur des Deutschen BundeswehrVerbandes GmbH” (non-profit making organization that supports and assists the members of the German Armed Forces Association) which, to this day, has been organizing and executing successfully the Berlin Military Music Festival.
One of the biggest festivals of military music in Europe for years!
The 1st Berlin Military Music Festival was hosted on 14 November 1995. Due to the enormous success, we have been able to continue into the year 2008 and are working on the 15th Berlin Military Music Festival. Over the years, this major event has developed into one of the leading international military music events in Europe.
During the three-hour show, first-class military music bands from all over the world present a diverse mix of international music - from symphonic masterpieces to marches to pop and rock music. During this one-of-a-kind spectacle, uniformed musicians combine their musical talents with an impressive marching choreography. In addition, various non-musical performances of international quality shape the program with more than 800 participants.
